Psychotherapy
Psychological Assessment
Psychological assessments can help an individual better understand their current challenges in the context of their whole person. This includes a combination of their past history and experiences, as well as their current life and symptoms. They are intended to help you better understand the way you think, feel and behave.
As a result of the psychological assessment, you may be provided with a formal diagnosis. This can be helpful because it can inform treatment recommendations and ensure that you are receiving personalized and quality care based on your unique needs.
Autism Spectrum Disorder & ADHD Assessment
We provide diagnostic assessments for a variety of neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (Asperger's Disorder/Autism), ADHD, and undiagnosed social-emotional difficulties for adults.
Neuropsychological Assessment
What is a neuropsychological assessment? This is where you will meet with a psychologist who has specialized knowledge and experience in clinical neuropsychology. They will help you understand your cognitive abilities and brain function.
The assessment involves a clinical interview, collateral interview, in-person cognitive testing, and review of relevant documentation (e.g., prior medical reports, psychological assessments, neuroimaging). At the conclusion of the assessment, you will have a feedback session with your psychologist. Additionally, you will receive a detailed assessment report outlining all obtained information, any diagnoses (if applicable), and recommendations for next steps. This may include a referral to specialists such as a neurologist, social worker, occupational therapist, or psychiatrist.
Please note that neuropsychological assessments involve in-person cognitive testing at our office located in Burlington, Ontario.
